Author Guidelines

FORMAT FOR WRITING COMMUNITY SERVICE JOURNAL ARTICLES

A. General Provisions

  1. Submitted articles must be original works that have never been published in any journal nor are in the process of being accepted for publication.

  2. Articles must be based on community service activities relevant to fields including Appropriate Technology training, health, marketing, economics, local food security, design, community empowerment, social access, border areas, underdeveloped regions, and education for sustainable development.

  3. Articles must be accompanied by a statement of originality from the author(s), declaring that the written work is their own and contains no plagiarism.

  4. The KOMUNITA Journal is published four times a year, specifically in February, May, August, and November.

B. Writing Systematic

  1. Articles should consist of 7 to 15 pages, typed with 1.5 line spacing on A4-sized paper, using Times New Roman font, size 12. Manuscripts to be published must be written in either proper Indonesian or proper English.

  2. The structure of the article shall consist of: Title, Author's Name, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

  3. Specifications for Article Writing:

    • Title: Should consist of 15-20 words.

    • Author's Name: Written without academic titles, accompanied by the author's email address and institutional affiliation.

    • Abstract: Written in both Indonesian and English, consisting of 150-250 words, and containing: the objectives of the activity, the methods used, and the outcomes or products of the activity.

    • Keywords: Written in both Indonesian and English, with 3-5 words each.

    • Introduction: Contains the conditions or problems that underlie or inspire the implementation of the community service activity and its objectives.

    • Method: Describes the approach used to solve the problem. Examples of methods: a) Community Education, e.g., counseling aimed at increasing understanding and awareness; b) Science and Technology Dissemination, e.g., activities that produce products for the target group; c) Training, e.g., activities accompanied by demonstrations or pilot projects to develop specific skills; d) Mediation, e.g., activities where the community service implementer acts as a mediator in resolving issues within the community; e) Advocacy, e.g., activities involving mentoring for the target group. Also, describe the characteristics of the target group that serve as partners in the community service activity.

    • Results and Discussion: Explains the outcomes of the community service, which may include increased knowledge, skills, or products. The results should also convey the level of achievement of the activity's targets. If the outcome is a physical object, its specifications, advantages, and disadvantages need to be explained. The description of outcomes should be supplemented with photos, tables, graphs, charts, images, etc. The discussion should follow the order of the objectives and should be preceded by an explanation. The discussion should include logical arguments linking the community service results with theories, other community service results, or research findings.

    • Conclusion: Written concisely but capturing the substance of the community service results and providing recommendations for future community service activities.

    • References: References must be written following the APA 5th Edition (American Psychological Association) model. It is highly recommended to use a reference manager (such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc.) to facilitate editing and review.
