Komunita: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat establishes that authorship is granted to individuals who make intellectual and substantive contributions to the planning, implementation, evaluation, and preparation of articles resulting from community service activities. The designation of authors must reflect the actual contribution of each individual and their responsibility for the content of the published article.
All individuals listed as authors must meet the authorship criteria established by the journal. Conversely, individuals who meet the authorship criteria must not be removed from the author list without justifiable reason.
Authorship Criteria
An individual may be listed as an author of an article in Komunita: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat if they meet all of the following criteria:
-
Substantive contribution to the activity. Making a meaningful contribution to the conception or design of the community service activity, analysis of partner needs, development of interventions, implementation of activities, data collection, evaluation, analysis, or interpretation of activity results.
-
Involvement in the preparation of the article. Participating in the drafting of the article or conducting a substantive review and revision of the intellectual content of the article, including the methods, results, discussion, and conclusions.
-
Approval of the final manuscript. Reading, approving, and providing consent to the final version of the article to be submitted for publication.
-
Responsibility and accountability. Being willing to take responsibility for their contribution to the article, helping to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the article's content, and cooperating in following up on questions or issues related to accuracy, validity, and publication ethics.
All four criteria must be met by each author. Individuals who make substantive contributions during the early stages of the activity should be given the opportunity to be involved in the preparation or revision of the article so that they may fully satisfy the authorship criteria.
Involvement in field activities alone does not automatically confer the right to authorship. Such contributions must be accompanied by the fulfillment of all authorship criteria as outlined above.
Author Order and Corresponding Author
The order of authors is determined through mutual agreement based on the magnitude of each individual's scientific and intellectual contribution to the activity and the preparation of the article. The determination of author order is not based solely on position, seniority, academic status, or institutional rank.
The first author is generally the individual who makes the primary contribution to the activity and the preparation of the article, in accordance with the agreement of the authors. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editor and journal management, ensuring the completeness of submission documents, conveying information to all authors, and coordinating responses to the editorial process.
The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have approved the authorship order, the content of the manuscript, and the submission of the article to Komunita: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat.
Author Contributions Statement
Every article submitted to Komunita: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat must include a statement of each author's contribution. This statement must describe the contributions actually made during the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the activity, as well as the preparation of the article.
Authors may use roles based on CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), provided they correspond to actual contributions. Relevant roles include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, visualization, writing of the original draft, writing—review and editing, and supervision.
Example of a contribution statement:
-
First author: conceptualization of the activity, development of methods, implementation of activities, analysis of results, and preparation of the original draft of the article.
-
Second author: implementation of activities, data collection and curation, interpretation of results, and substantive revision of the article.
-
Third author: supervision of activities, validation of results, critical review, and revision of the manuscript.
-
All authors: read and approved the final version of the article and are responsible for the integrity of their contributions.
These examples are illustrative only. Authors must adapt the contribution statement to the actual involvement of each individual.
